Let’s be sure to thank Hunter.

Paul GleiserLet’s be sure to thank Hunter.

Hunter Biden was likely feeling good Wednesday morning, all things considered. Despite being patently guilty of federal crimes for which ordinary mortals suffer years of imprisonment, he was about to get off with the federal equivalent of paying a traffic ticket.

He walked into court in Wilmington, Delaware expecting to appear before U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika in a pro-forma proceeding. He expected a judicial rubber stamp on the plea deal he struck with federal prosecutors on tax evasion and federal gun law charges.

Things didn’t go as planned.

The judge did her job and asked the appropriate questions and in so doing revealed to the world that Hunter Biden was getting the sweetest of sweetheart deals. Buried deep in the paperwork the Department of Justice was agreeing to not only let Hunter off with a slap on the wrist on charges that would see you or me trundled off to prison, they were attempting to give him, via the back door, immunity on charges not yet filed.

Those charges potentially include violation of FARA – the Foreign Agents Registration Act. FARA requires individuals who represent foreign governments – which Hunter’s laptop clearly reveals that he does – to make certain regular disclosures as to relationships, activities and attendant financial compensation to the Department of Justice.

The judge asked some pointed questions, sent the lawyers for both sides off by themselves to work out problems that she had with the deal, and in the end, wasn’t having it.

The plea deal fell apart and Hunter and the DOJ now have a month to come to some other arrangement.

Failing to gain rubber stamp approval of the deal between DOJ and Hunter Biden puts both parties in a real pickle.

The pickle is obvious for Hunter. He may actually be punished.

But as former U.S. Attorney Brett Tollman explained Wednesday night to Jesse Watters on the FOX News Channel, the DOJ is in a pickle, too. They must decide to either continue running a protection racket for the son of a Democratic president – only this time with an order of magnitude increase in public scrutiny – or belatedly put some teeth in their prosecution of Hunter Biden.

Just to reiterate, if you or I (or someone with the last name of Trump) failed to pay taxes on millions in income, lied on a federal form required of all gun purchasers and took in millions of dollars in return for representing the interests of foreign nations to the highest levels of the U.S. government without making the legally required disclosures, we would go to prison.

The DOJ is now exposed. It must decide which is more important, protecting top Democrats or attempting the salvage of their increasingly damaged reputation.

So, in the end, we owe Hunter Biden a debt of gratitude. Absent his pathological dysfunction, the disinfecting properties of sunlight might not have reached the shadowy spaces of the Department of Justice, where corrupt and politicized idealogues have been nibbling away like rodents at the very foundations of our republic.

The sheer audacity of the democratic party is amazing. They and their media puppets all squeal about the lack of evidence against the Bidens and the mountains of evidence against Trump. Thankfully Grassley, et. al. have stayed on the trail and the American public will see where we are going as a country. Wholesale change is needed in Washington. If it doesn’t start soon it will be too late. It isn’t democrat versus republican it is us against them.

The cesspool club in Washington has many members in and out of government (politicians, media, lobbyists, foundations, corporations, foreign and domestic saboteurs, et al.) that collectively hate America’s founding principals and will do ANYTHING to protect their membership no matter how vile and illegal their activities are discovered by the American people. Pray tell me who in the compromised Congress has the COURAGE to hold these vermin accountable (which is their DUTY) and return us to a properly functional Constitutional Republic? Can any Patriot endure the 24/7 hostility from the Marxists in charge that will flood the political arena with LIES to deflect ANY action that could otherwise take place to get real JUSTICE back on the table?

I love your stuff Paul, have you ever considered creating a YouTube Channel to air your views? I watch many “right wing” patriots on YouTube like Dr. Steve Turley, Dinesh de Souza, Salty Cracker and others and I would definitely subscribe to your channel and “like” every video you make. I know you’ve done radio and video, I would love to see you there.
Be sure to let us know if you decide to do that!

Thank you, Dan. Yes we have considered it and will consider it again. Time is always the enemy.

I totally agree with Dan, Paul. Your “you tell me Texas” would be global. You’d be talking to the whole world, not just east Texas. This when our country needs it more than ever.

I likewise totally agree with Dan and Greg, Paul, your incredible columns should be reaching a wider audience. Never wasting a word, you always hit the nail square on the head!

The audacity of the left has happened because in times of when the GOP has gained both the House and the Senate, the GOP, instead of standing their ground and doing what was right, bent over backwards to make nice with the dems. The GOP caved at every turn. The longer the GOP crossed the isle to make nice with the dems just emboldened them to be the school yard bullies they are. We don’t send people to Congress to make nice nice with the dems! We send them to Congress to do what is BEST for US and this Country! We send them to Congress to UPHOLD our sacred document THE CONSTITUTION! Which the GOP has allowed the left to trample all over! President Trump was right when he said that the corruption in our government runs much deeper than we could ever dream of. My question is…Have we reached the point of no return and if we have, just whose fault is it?

In 1973, I was a recent college graduate teaching middle school art in Grand Prairie, Texas. As the Watergate scandal continued to unfold, I circulated a letter among my fellow teachers, a letter to Pres. Richard Nixon, asking him to be totally honest with his fellow citizens, especially with regard to the personal tapes that investigators were asking him for. Most of my fellow teachers signed that letter, but some were afraid to do so, for reasons I still do not understand.

By the time Nixon resigned from office, my wife and I had moved from Arlington, Texas to Arlington, Virginia, where she took a civilian job with Naval Air Systems Command, and I with Human Events, a still-publishing conservative newspaper three blocks from the Capitol.

After his resignation from office, my wife watched the disgraced president’s helicopter fly overhead as he departed Washington. Meanwhile, in the days before and after, I pasted-up Human Events news stories relating to that historic event.

Soon after I arrived in Arlington, Virginia, I met a fellow Texan, soon to be a friend, on the daily bus ride into DC. One of the first things my new friend told me about Washington, was this, “The most important thing to remember about this city is that the scum always rises to the top.”

Today, almost 50 years later, there is vastly more scum!

Consider, the Watergate scandal was entirely political. Wrongs were done, but by an otherwise pretty decent man who was acting not in the quest of personal profit but to serve his country. Consider also, Republicans as well as Democrats were outraged. Members of both parties recognized that crimes had occurred and that the current president had acted wrongly, in ways that ultimately led to his resignation. Remember also that back then the media was still reporting the news and not taking sides.

Back then, both political parties and even the media were united in their desire to right political wrongs.

Compare that to what is happening today. At this point we have the Biden crime family dead to rights, but the Democrats and other elites, along with most of media have discovered two words that were never uttered with regard to Nixon and now Trump. Those words are “unsubstantiated charges,” words they now bleat endlessly.

Today’s Democrats, to their shame, are as crooked as their beloved president. The scum has indeed risen to the top!
