Privilege trumps morality.
With respect to the impasse in Congress that resulted in a shutdown of the government, you likely will not hear in the mainstream media what ultimately led to the stalemate. So I’m going to tell you now.
The last bill passed by the House and sent to the Senate prior to the midnight deadline funded the entirety of the government at present spending levels. That includes Obamacare. The last bill passed by the House left Obamacare on the books as it is now.
Of the last version of the House continuing resolution sent to and rejected by the Senate, the only provision having to do with Obamacare was the language that removed the exemption from Obamacare – granted by presidential order of dubious legality – for the benefit of members of Congress, members of the administration and their respective staffs.
Let us be very clear here. Senate Democrats refused to continue funding the government because they do not want to be subject to Obamacare – a law that they imposed upon the rest of us. Once again, the Ruling Class insists upon privilege ahead of all other considerations.
Whatever you hear in the mainstream press about Republicans holding the country hostage is pure bunk. In the end, the Republicans simply took the position that a law that has force and effect upon you and me should have force and effect upon those who enacted it. That they used the occasion of the continuing resolution to promote that position is simply a recognition of the fact that in a tough fight, you employ whatever leverage you have.
The Republican position may or may not prove to be politically unwise. The Republican position may or may not do damage to the party and its candidates in the 2014 midterms.
But those considerations aside, it cannot be said that the Republican position is unprincipled.
In the end, the Republicans took a stance that is not only reasonable, it’s moral.
The reason the mainstream did not report this is that it is NOT true.

There are many changes, most notable is this one:
Sec. 141. (a) Delay in Application of Individual Health Insurance Mandate- Section 5000A(a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by striking `2013′ and inserting `2014′.
Which the main stream media did report, but which you chose to ignore.
I really do not think that morals had anything to do with the republicans doing what they did. I believe they are doing what they are because they have seen the wrath of the public against them and this monster called obamacare. They are between a rock and a hard place right now and saw this as the lesser of two evils. Never in all my life have I seen a more UNPRINCIPLED field of congressional people. MAYBE ONE percent have the morals it takes to do good, the others are unprincipled and have absolutely no morals because if they had morals we would NOT be in the position we are right now because obamacare would NOT have been RAMMED down our throats in the first place! When the moral compass is lost in a society by it’s leaders, that is when we can see its demise. We started losing our moral compass back during the johnson era, but it was lost completely during the clinton years! We now are reaping the result!!!
Once again, if we consider what the Left-Stream Media conveniently omits from their reporting, we find out who takes a more reasonable position. “Progressive” leadership is not reasonable. It is, rather, marxist-psychopathic. Fifty or sixty years ago, in this country, they would have been prosecuted for treason or, at the very least, institutionalized in psychiatric wards.
